STRICTLY LOCALISM
The National Association of Local Councils (NALC) and the Local Government Association (LGA) have joined forces for the first time to host an event, Strictly Localism, which will concentrate on improving the working relationships between the two tiers of local government.
This joint LGA and NALC event on 22 March at Austin Court, Birmingham, will explore the new challenges and opportunities arising from the Localism Act, Open Public Services White Paper, other national regulation such as the National Planning Policy Framework and the new powers that enable local councils to deliver more for their communities.
It will give councillors from all tiers of local government the opportunity to meet and discuss how recent changes will affect their relationship and working practices. Delegates will hear from a range of speakers who are demonstrating innovative ways of working, including the neighbourhood budgets pilots.
The event will challenge delegates' preconceptions about what is possible, and celebrate the power councillors from all tiers have that allow them to deliver local solutions for local people.
